Final Regular Season Meet vs. Woodbridge

On January 30, 2021, Battlefield Swim & Dive finished our last meet of the season and I am extremely proud to say that both the Boys and Girls teams finished the season undefeated and District Champions! In past years, the District Champions were decided at the District meet, but the team record was used this year with Districts being a cyber meet. Congratulations to you all for a great season and all your hard work. Due to Covid-19, there were a lot of changes this year and it wasn’t always easy. You all performed when it was needed and it paid off.

Districts – As you all know, the District meet was replaced this year with a cyber meet. The cyber meet was necessary to fairly determine which athletes would advance to Regionals. The Regional meet asked the District to advance the top 6 individual swimmers/divers and top three relays by event. To arrive at this, the coaches submitted a line-up as they normally would for the District meet. Instead of actual swims and dives being performed, the top time or score achieved by the entered athlete over the course of the season was used to place the individuals and relays. Entries for the meet were sent yesterday evening and the individual swim/ diver and relays were ranked within the hour. This meet was not scored, but did provide the list of swimmers and divers advancing to Regionals. Battlefield has a large number of top six swimmers/divers advancing to Regionals and all six relays advance as top seeds.
Practices – Like years in the past, we will continue to hold practices at the Freedom Center over the next two weeks and they are open to everyone. If you are a club swimmer, you will still need to contact us to make sure that we have room for you. Even if you are not advancing to Regionals or State, we would encourage you to take advantage of the pool time.
Congratulations again on a great regular season!

Battlefield Beats Patriot

Congratulations to both the men’s and women’s teams on beating Patriot at our 2021 head-to-=head matchup. The final scores (combined swim & dive) are as follows:

Men:
Battlefield – 159, Patriot – 146 (win of 13 points!)

Women:
Battlefield – 189, Patriot – 123 (win of 66 points!)

Overall, the swim team saw 93% BEST TIMES (96% best times for the women, 90% best times for the men) on the season. That’s incredible!

Also, congratulations to Ryan Strotheide for lowering his BHS record in the 100 Back (52.98), Camille Spink for lowering her COUNTY record in the 50 Free (23.11), and the 200 Freestyle Relay team of Sophia Heilen, Lexi Sawwa, Sarah Golsen, and Camille Spink for breaking the COUNTY record in the event (1:37.30). These are amazing accomplishments!

Lastly, special shoutout to Ean Helmlinger for bringing home the win for the men’s swim team last night in his anchor leg of the 400 Free B Relay (with a time of 50.20)! Without that stellar performance the outcome would have been very different, so nice job!

Let’s take this momentum into our last two meets of the season in preparation for the championship season! Go Bobcats!< Coach Evan

Dive Tryout Protocols – Important

Here is the Dive Tryout Check-In Protocol:

Dive Tryout Week Check-In Protocol:

  • All Divers/Dive Coaches must submit their SWOL information by NOON each day of tryouts and practice. If a Diver/Dive Coach does not comply with this requirement, he/she will not be allowed on deck – NO exceptions.
  • Ashley Ausborn, Colgan Athletic Trainer, will run one Diver/Dive Coach SWOL report for ALL 12 high schools and send it over to the Aquatics Center.
  • During tryout week, a Middle School Athletic Trainer (MS AT) will meet the Divers/Dive Coaches on the sidewalk, right outside the PWCS Aquatics Center, starting as early as 3:45 pm for the 4:15 pm start time. Please encourage your Divers to arrive early to account for check in time.
  • There will be tape markings on the sidewalk, 6 feet apart. Divers/Coaches may line up and check in with the MS AT.
  • It may be chilly outside, so encourage your Divers to bundle up.
  • Please remind your Divers to have their suits on under their sweats since the locker rooms will not be open.
  • Please remind your Diver to wear a face mask while waiting in the diving board line. Also, bring a water bottle and several towels and/or shammy/chamois. The towel/shammy/chamois may be used to dry off the face before putting the mask back on as soon as he/she exits the water.
